The castle was founded at the beginning of the 14th century. In the past, it was rebuilt several times. Today`s appearance is the result of renovation in the Romantic style.
The Zahrádky Chateau is situated at a wonderful locality in the middle of a park at the edge of a sandstone platform.
The premises of the chateau in Mělník are located just above the confluence of the Elbe and the Vltava; it is a dominant feature of the city. The original castle was built in the 13th century as a residence of Czech Princes.
The large chateau was used in the second half of the 19th century as a summer residence of Ferdinand I, former Austrian Emperor. During the tour, you can visit the emperor\'s bedroom, the dining room and the chapel where the wedding ceremony of Franz Ferdinand d\'Este and Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg, took place in 1900.
Because of the original Gothic chapel, Houska is considered a rarity in the Central European region.
The present look of the chateau is the result of three renovation stages, - Renaissance, Baroque and Romantic.
The chateau in Bělá pod Bezdězem was built at the locality of a former fortress during the 1582 – 1615 period. It was rebuilt in the Baroque style at the end of the 17th century.
The Renaissance Castle in Doksy is situated next to the farmyard and is surrounded by the English Park.
